Hi! I'm Marielle Derocher.
I am an aspiring Technical Artist, Software Developer and 3D Generalist, specializing in Character Rigging, 3D Modeling, Game Programming, and Tool Development.
I am currently earning my Master in Computer Science degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with plans to graduate in December 2025.
I recently completed UIUC's Graduate Certificate Degree in Computing Fundamentals at the end of an accelerated program for students who plan to get a master’s degree in computer science.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from the University of Washington Seattle. I was involved with the UW Animation Research Lab (ARL) and its attached capstone program since 2018. After taking the capstone classes and producing a collaborative short film, I continued working with the program for two more years as a Teaching Assistant, where I taught students the basics of 3D modeling, rigging, and the mechanics of the animated film pipeline. I was also a Teaching Assistant for an ARL class on creating games and VR experiences in Unity, where I worked with video game industry professionals who solidified my desire to pursue technical art.
My main tools are Autodesk Maya, Unreal Engine 5, Unity 3D, Python, and Java. I also have extensive experience with Blender, the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Microsoft 365, and Github.
